What are knowledge bases & what are their benefits?

Knowledge bases are third party services that you trust to store your notes across devices. Some examples of these services are OneNote, Notion, or Obsidian.

With Command, you can sync your highlights and notes to knowledge bases for archival and later access. This advance feature lets you have the things you read in the places you write.

How can I use knowledge bases with Command?

Command offers the ability to sync or export journals & highlights to knowledge bases of your choice.

To sync a journal, tap + Add Integration and follow the flow to integrate with your service of choice. After integrating notes & highlights added to this journal will automatically sync to your desired knowledge base. We currently service 3 types of knowledge bases – Readwise, Notion, and OneNote.

How To: Use Command Everywhere with Share Extensions

What are share extensions & what are their benefits

Share extensions are a way to open links and take notes from outside Command. These feature extends the ability of Command throughout your phone.

Not every app values space for thinking or focused reading. Command is designed to give you control in these situations by giving you easy access to tools for thought wherever you are.

How to use share extensions

You can use share extensions where ever the option to share exists. Usually the share button looks like an open square with an arrow coming out of it.

After opening the share sheet – that Apple default card that lets you share – you can tap the Command Icon to journal or the action cell below the row of icons to open in Command.

How To: Using Spaces to organize your tabs

What are spaces and what are their benefits?

Spaces are a way to organize the tabs you’re browsing. An easy way to think of them is as a collection of tabs.

Spaces were designed with the help of the community that used Command Browser 1. The key feature that was requested for 2.0 was a way to manage tabs that can get overwhelming. Spaces were designed as a solution to help wrangle tabs.

How can I use spaces?

Spaces are fairly deep feature of Browser and there are a few places you can go to use them.

While Browsing

While browsing, you’ve got the option to long press a tab and choose the space to open it in. To do this, long press a link you’d like to open and tap the > Open In Space option in the menu that appears. Finally – choose the space you’d like to put the tab into.

All tabs that are opened without selecting a space get added to the current space you’re in.

This is a letter from Ash Bhat, CEO of RoBhat Labs

When Rohan and I started RoBhat Labs, we were sophomores in college excited about the potential for the role that the internet could play in our lives. At the time – we were roommates at the University of California, taking a data science classes on how teach computers to classify accounts on Twitter.

Our journey started in 2017 when we built bot classifiers to help people on Twitter recognize automated accounts. Our mission then was quite simple – provide people the tools to make better decisions for themselves. We executed on this mission by building browser extensions used by thousands that made it easy for people to quickly check the tweeting behavior of the accounts they were reading.

How To: Using highlighting to focus as you read

What is highlighting and what are the benefits?

Highlighting is a way to mark up text as you’re reading. In a literal sense, the action of highlighting emphasizes a section of text and makes it easier for a reader to focus on a piece of text.

This tool can be useful to highlight key pieces in articles – like stats or quotes. In addition, using highlighting can create helpful milestones through a large piece of text to help with later reading. Last but not least, highlighting can help readers focus on the text they’re working to get through.

In addition – Command is unique in it’s ability to journal highlights. Journaling lets you go further and capture a note or idea as you read a passage.

There are many use cases to highlighting – it’s up to you make it your own & find a reading culture that works for you.
